  9.   Source:Gale, Linn A. E. Genealogy of the Descendants of David Gale of Sutton, Mass, p. 9, says of Asa that he "married twice and had one child by his first wife". However, he names neither wife, nor the child, and since he misreports the birth year as 1822, ie., before the parents marriage, instead of 1825 as it is recorded, one is forced to wonder about the reliability of his information. No sign of a child is found (though there are a surprising number of censuses which could be useful, but haven't been located). Specifically, in 1855 there are no children and in 1870 he is living alone, with no birth of a child found.
