Arthur enlisted on 2 August 1915. He sailed "for parts unknown" on 23 November 1915. He was wounded in Egypt. He was a Private in the Royal Engineers 2nd Div, 1st Reinf. He also served in the 5th Field Company Engineers. He returned from active service on 18 April 1919. Linda Podhaczky has some postcards that he sent to his uncle, John King Tucker, during WW1.
