Former Banff Medic Dr. A.W. Scott, Dies In Eastern Canada

Was Associated with Dr. G. Atkin Here of Two Years; Burial At Calgary this Afternoon

Dr. Arthur Wycliffe Scott, B.A., M.D., who for two years was associated with Dr. G.M. Atkin, at Banff, died suddenly at Weston, Ontario, on Monday, at the age of forty-one years. He was a son of the late Dr. A.M. Scott, who for a great many years was superintendent of Calgary Schools.

Born at Fredericton, New Brunswick, Dr. Scott came west as a boy, with his parents, and settled at Calgary, where he received his education in the public and high schools. On leaving school where he took honour standing each year he attended Calgary Normal and then taught school for a year. Following this he took his B.A. degree with honours in biological and medical science in 1924. Three years later he graduated in medicine at the University of Toronto and joined the staff of the Wellesley Hospital, Toronto. Later he came west and practised in Calgary for a few years, joining Dr. Atkin in the early part of 1938. Towards the end of the following year he left Banff to enlist as a medical officer in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps.

Surviving are his widow, Marjorie; his mother, Mrs. A.M. Scott, and one sister, Juliet, all of Calgary.

The funeral was held in Calgary this (Friday) afternoon, with the Rev. J.R. Morden officiating. Interment was made in the Union cemetery, Calgary.
