Arthur Bernard Saunders, 81, a former Milton lumber dealer and for 21 years a Janesville resident, died Saturday in his home in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born in Walworth Sept. 4, 1880, attended Milton College and was graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1902 with an engineering degree. He was married Aug. 18, 1909, to Winnie Crandall, author and the great-granddaughter of Henry B. Crandall who, with Joseph Goodrich, founded Milton in 1836. They resided in Milton until moving to Janesville in 1930, leaving here in 1953 for Tucson. He was employed with the cost accounting department of Westinghouse Electric, Chicago, and Electric Railways in California, for a time, then after his marriage went into partnership with his father in the lumber business in Milton.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lange, Tucson, formerly of Janesville; a son, Truman Saunders, South Milwaukee; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
