SOURCE - Regarding the death of Arthur Hartley Parker (who was named after his Uncle of the same name) - "Butch Cassidy, My Brother" by Lula Parker Betenson (younger sister of both Arthur and Robert LeRoy Parker a.k.a. "Butch Cassidy"). In this book was written the following concerning Arthur's death (when Lula would have been 16 years old):

"Arthur was a fine horseman and a good jockey. At the Fourth of July celebration, the horse he was riding in the big race fell and broke Arthur's leg. He was taken to the hotel, and the doctor was called. Arthur never regained consciousness and died a few days later. We always thought he died from a blood clot."

Obviously he died the very next day (July 5th) rather than a few days later. But one has to remember that Lula related this in 1973-1974 when she was 89-90 years of age and also she was living in Utah with her parents when Arthur died in Telluride, Colorado.
