Arthur Nelson Haun was the son of Daniel B. Haun (1796–1860) and Magdaline (Dillie) McDonald (1802–1871).

Arthur N. Haun was from the Mosheim Community on the Hawkins / Greene Co line in eastern Tennessee. He enlisted 11/8/1861 (age 41) for 3 years in the 2nd Tennessee Infantry - US later called the 1st Tennessee Cavalry - US. He was medically discharged 2/16/1864, as unfit for duty. He moved to Dennison, TX after the civil war, then to Missouri.
He was also said to be a Presbyterian Minister.
