Arthur Greaves Firth was born in 1868 in Leeds, Yorkshire, son of Mary Firth, formerly Greaves, and her husband Richard Temple Firth, a carter. Arthur was the couple's first of several children. He appears in both the 1871 and 1881 censuses living with his parents and siblings in Leeds.
On 4th April 1887, Arthur married a Sarah Ann Steele. They appear to have had at least two children together. At the time of the 1891 census they were living separately with Sarah and the two children living with her parents, whilst Arthur was back with his parents. He was described as a labourer.
Arthur has yet to be traced after 1891. Sarah remarried in 1907.
