FAYETTEVILLE —. Arthur M. Coon of 729 Allen street, Syracuse, died last Thursday at the Crouse Irving Hospital after a month's illness. He was born in Fayetteville 81 years ago. Mr. Coon conducted a business In this village for 40 years prior to his retirement 18 years' ago. With Fred Pooter as a partner, Mr. Coon engaged in the dry goods and grocery business In the building now occupied by Bert Baldwin and the Victory store. Later he bought out Mr. Potter and continued as sole owner. In 1912 Mr. Coon sold his grocery business to Harvey Peas and Worth Robbin, and in 1925 sold the dry goods business to Mr. Baldwin. Owner of the post office building, here, he made frequent visits to Fayetteville. When in Fayetteville, the Coons lived on Clinton street In the house now occupied by Mr. Coon's nephew, Stanley Vedder. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie Doyle Coon of Syracuse; a sister. Mrs. Frank Vedder of this village: a niece, Miss Marion Vedder of Rochester, and his nephew, Stanley Vedder. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon from his late home In Syracuse, Rev. Edwin T. Dahlberg. officiated. C. R. Eaton in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in Fayetteville cemetery.
