[edit] Information on Archibald CatheyNotes for Archibald Cathey: Epitaph reads "Son of Jean Cathey" Archibald did not marry. He died the same year as his mother, and they share a headstone. In January of 1767, Andrew Cathey, planter of Mecklenburg County, and his wife Rebecca deeded to his brother Archibald Cathey of Mecklenburg, also a planter, 300 acres on the east side of the Catawba River below the mouth of Paw Creek. The terms were stated as s5 on the 15th of January, and were stated again on the 16th of January as £10 NC money. The land was located in the upper half of a 600 acre tract that had been granted to the same Andrew Cathey on 21 Oct 1756. On 1 August 1769, Archibald Cathey sold the land back to his brother Andrew for £250 NC currency. The witnesses were James McCord and John Henry. This deed was recorded during the October 1769 session.
