Archie E. Merritt, 80, of Bradner, died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 at St. Catherine’s Care Center in Fostoria. He was born on Oct. 29, 1925 in McBane, Michigan to the late Walter and Lottie (Burns) Merritt. He first married Ferry Ann Camp and they were divorced. He then married Carolyn M. Linkey on March 2, 1970 in Hatton. Those who survive him include his wife, Carolyn Merritt of Bradner; two sons, Donald D. Merritt of Bradner and Mitchell L. Merritt of Risingsun; one daughter, Carol L. Shontz of Fostoria; two brothers, Alfred Merritt of Toledo and Calvin Merritt of Fremont; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth A. Merritt; two brothers, Ray Merritt and Robert Merritt and one sister, Hazel Lockmiller. Mr. Merritt was a mechanic for the former W & R Truck Stop & Gas Station at the corner of State Route 6 and U.S. 23. He was a member of Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner and a member of Kings Parish Church in Cygnet. Mr. Merritt was a WW II Navy Veteran. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Zedda Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Cemetery in Wayne with military services conducted by the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338.
