    Archibald P. Stuart was born in 1799 and died in 1866. He resided 1½ miles west of
    Staunton, on the farm known as Buttermilk spring, lying on both sides of the C. & 0. R.R. He married Josephine T. Xaupi, the daughter of a French gentleman, by whom he
    had a large family. Two of Archibald P. Stnart's sons, viz, John A. and Henry C, were gallant soldiers in the Confederate States army.
