Revolutionary War Pension Information
Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 5, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Skaggs, Archibald - born 1/1/1759 in South Carolina; moved with parents to Halifax County, Virginia, then to Botetourt County, Virginia, thence to Montgomery County, Virginia, where soldier entered service 1779 in Virginia regiment; received Pension 1832 in Adair County, Kentucky; cousin Henry Skaggs made affidavit in then Grayson County, Kentucky age 70 that he & soldier were raised together as children & entered service together in Montgomery County, Virginia in 1779; soldier died 4/21/1833 in Adair County, Virginia [sic, s/b Kentucky], leaving widow Barbara, who resided there in 1833 age 60 when she was granted his Pension arrears.
