Archibald, was a Colonel in the NC Militia, was captured at Stony Point, held captive and released. He and his brother, Captain William Lytel and William's father in law, Captain John Taylor, were charter members of the Society of the Cincinnati.

His Revolutionary War pension testimony says he was commissioned a Lt Col in the 6th regiment on 26 January 1777 under the command of Colonel Gideon Lamb.

500 acres of bounty land were issued on a warrant to William Lytle, brother and heir of Archibald Lytle. The warrant looks like it was issued in December 1806.

Colonel Archibald Lytle, oldest son of Captain Robert Lytle, served in the Revolutionary War and was captured at Stony Point, held captive, and released. He and his brother, Captain William Lytle, and the father-in-law of William, Lieutenant John Taylor were charter members of the Society of the Cincinnati. Archibald Lytle died, having never married, and willed all of his estate to his brother, William, to be disposed as as he saw fit.
