Archibald Elkins was the son of Richard Elkins and Nancy Leslie McGuire. According to John Ragland, founder and editor of the Logan Banner Newspaper, Archibald was married to Margaret Gillespie. Apparently, there were no children. His marriage to Margaret must have been brief, for he married Hannah Stephenson of Tazewell, Virginia, on January 5, 1815. She became the mother of his known children. (Ragland’s information may have been an error, for the name Margaret Gillespie, was also another older, relative, and I have found no records, as of yet, of Ragland’s mentioned marriage.)
