Sarah (Arah, Mary) Dorsey was born on 27 May 1733 in Queen Caroline, Anne Arundel, Maryland. Her parents are not yet known. She married Basil Lee Williams as his first wife about 1746. Children: Zedekiah (Zadock), Eli, Nathan. She died about 1753 in Anne Arundel, Maryland.
After Mary died Basil married second [first?] Phoebe Spiers on 21 Aug 1754 in Anne Arundel, Maryland. Children: Leaven (Eleven), Otho, Lawrence Lot, Ezekial, Jarrett, Ann Arah.
Many trees show death date of 31 Mar 1804 and combine the children of both wives. No evidence found for this death date yet.
Not to be confused with Sarah Rachel Dorsey 1713-1780 who married Robert Shipley 1713-1782. Her parents were Joshua Dorsey and Ann Ridgely.
"Arah/Marah/Mary Dorsey has been the cause of an extensive search among the Dorsey family. They were in Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties of Maryland. She was the wife of Basil Lee Williams and mother of many sons and one daughter. In the 1776 Census of Frederick Co., Md. she was called Mary Williams. When I found her as the mother of Gerard Williams she was called Arah or Marah. Arah and Marah are the German version of Mary, so I assume that Mary and Arah or Marah are the same person."
