Aquilla Greer, III and Elizabeth Smith Posted by: Bertie G. O'Quin Date: January 10, 1999 at 14:09:59 of 1976

Aquilla, III is the son of Aquilla and Elizabeth Lowe of Bedford and adjoining counties of Virginia. He was born 1779 and married Elizabeth Smith on 15 Aug 1798, Franklin Co, Va. I believe that I have identified 8 children, born in Georgia, Tennessee and Illinois. Subject lived in Gallatin Co, Illinois, probably Equality, in later years and died there approximately 1836. He died intestate, but his youngest son, who fought in Mexican War and died from injuries received in Oct 1848 in Gallatin Co; he was married to Rosanna McSparin. His name was Peyton M Greer; his heirs are five of his living brothers and sisters and the heirs of a deceased brother and sister. Is anyone researching this family; Will provide what info I have but would like to know more about this family. Please contact me by my E-Mail, please.

Aquilla III could not have been the son of Elizabeth Lowe (or Haynes, there is conflicting opinion), a woman believed to be born by 1721. Furthermore, he would not have been Aquilla III if he was the son of the Aquilla who married Elizabeth Lowe/Haynes. I have moved him down a generation. However, it appears that there is very little evidence for the lineage in this family (see discussion on the Find A Grave memorial for his possible father)[1] --DataAnalyst 16:03, 2 February 2021 (UTC).
