Anthony was killed in an auto accident when a friend was driving Anthony's car, and Anthony was seated in the front passenger seat. A problem occurred with one of the front wheels while going around a corner, and the car crashed. Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The accident was somewhere near Florence State Prison.

Anthony had just graduated from high school as the valedictorian of the class just a short time prior to the accident.

Anthony was buried in the Ray City Cemetery, but the body was later moved to a new location because of the copper mining in the area.
