Facts and Events
He was living with his son, John, in Kenosha Wisconsin in 1900.
Most books on Irish surnames will say Corcoran suggests redness or ruddiness, but Corcra I think is a Gealic word for purple, Maybe the Corcorans were (reddlers) or purveyors of red dye, or more likely they were men of the cloth, as I just saw somewhere suggested in this genealogy page.
"What's your name?"
"Corcoran."
"Can you spell that?"
"C-o-r...c-o-r.."
"No, I got that part, what comes after the 'C-o-r'?
"C-o-r."
With great irritation: "No, I got that part. What comes after the 'C-o-r'?
"It's C-O-R-C-O-R-A-N."
"Where's the 'H'?
"There is no 'H'.
"How do you spell 'Cochran' without an 'H'?
"I don't know. My name is Corcoran."
