GALLAGHER MAHER, 88, of RED BANK, died Wednesday, Feb.18, at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, LongBranch. She was an administrator for Long Island University,Long Island, retiring after 20 years. She was a volunteer atMonmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, and a communicant of St.Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Born inPhiladelphia, she lived in Shady Oaks Retirement Development,Middletown, before moving to Red Bank 1 1/2 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Maher Sr.; and adaughter, Ellen Maher McCarthy. Surviving are a son, GeorgeMaher of South Lake, Texas; a brother, Daniel Gallagher ofFlorida; a sister, Katie Federici of Long Island; sevengrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., RedBank. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St.Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Cremation willbe private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St.Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center & Palliative CareCenter, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740.
