  18. ↑ Gulbrand and Ann Marie are both buried in the Upper Church cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
  19. ↑ It is commonly believed that Anne Marie was a child of her father's second marriage as were her five younger siblings, but Anne Marie was the only child of her father's first marriage to Johanne Madsdatter Solberg. Johanne died when Anne Marie was only two; then Gulbrand took Johanne's sister, Berte, as his second wife the following year. He had five more children with Berte, who raised Anne Marie from early childhood, leading to the idea that Berte was the mother of all six of the children. Berte would have been the only mother that Anne Marie ever knew, but the dates of Anne Marie's birth, Johanne's death, and Gulbrand's 2nd marriage all confirm that Johanne was Anne Marie's mother.
  20. ↑ Nørstebøn then became the family name of Gulbrand and Anne Marie. It was sold when they emigrated and was still owned [in 1971] by the family who bought it from them. [Research, however, shows that her husband purchased Nørstebøen from her father].
  21. ↑ She is shown as the only child of Gulbrand's first wife, Johanne in the bygdebok on page 333.
