Facts and Events
[edit] Surname Uncertain(Quote): At that time there were two persons named Whitmore, residing in Essex county, Mass., namely, Ann, who married George Farrow, or Farrar, February 16, 1643-4, and had issue; also, Mary, who married John Brewer, Oct. 23, 1647. It is probable they were relatives, by highly improbable that they were in any near degree of relationship with Thomas or John Whitmore. It is possible these two girls were related to Francis Whitmore of Laxton, county of Notts, England, whose will, dated January 26, 1644-5, mentions sister Anne Farrar, nephew Robert Farrar (if he be alive and in England), nephews John, William, Francis, Thomas and George Farrar. (Wetmore Family, p 3-4) Even if Anne's surname is Whitmore, it is unlikely that she is the daughter of John Whitmore of Stamford, CT. His daughter Anne was born 1621, married George Farrar 16 Feb 1643/4. They had children born in 1644/5, 1646/7, and 1650. She was too young to be the mother of Samuel Allen's first child born in 1632 (NEHGR Oct 1852, 6:318). George Farrar was of Ipswich, Mass., 1637; m. Ann Whitmore, Feb. 16, 1643/4; had three children ... his wife Ann d. 1650-60. The 1644/5 will of Francis Whitmore of Laxton, Northhampton, England mentions sister Anne Farrar and nephews Robert, John, William, Francis, Thomas, and George (NEHGR 11:52). References
