Obituary.
MRS. GEORGE UNICOMB.
ON WEDNESDAY last, at 3 a.m., Mrs. GEORGE UNICOMB, one of the oldest residents of Jones' Island, breathed her last at the ripe old age of 82 years. Mrs. UNICOMB had been ailing for some time past from dropsy, but only took to her bed two days before her death. She was well-known and highly respected, and has left a husband and large family — 7 sons and 10 daughters, we believe, besides numerous grand-children—to mourn their loss. The funeral, which was very largely attended, took place on Thursday at noon, at the Mitchell's Island Cemetery, Mr. E. Basham, J.P., conducting the service.

The Late Mrs. George Unicomb, Senr.
WITH regard to the death of this old resident of Jones' Island, the beloved wife of Mr. George Unicomb, senr., we are informed that she was born in Sussex, England, on February 26th, 1820, and was married to Mr. Unicomb in the year 1838. She came to this country the same year, landing here on November 30th, 1838. Mr. and Mrs. Unicomb settled in the Hunter River district where they lived for 20 years. They came to the Manning River in the year 1858, and have resided on Jones' Island ever since — 44 years. Mrs. Unicomb was well-known and highly respected. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, and in her younger days, when tea meetings were got up by different persons giving tables, Mrs. Unicomb was always ready to assist in raising funds for the church by getting up a table. The Methodist Church owes much to some of its old members for the help given in this way, in the days gone by. Mrs. Unicomb breathed her last on April 9th, at the ripe old age of 82 years, leaving a husband and 13 children—3 sons and 10 daughters—to mourn their loss. She was the mother of 17 children, 4 of whom (2 sons and 2 daughters) predeceased her. The number of descendants who survive her are as follows 13 children, 93 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. The cause of her death was Bright's disease, from which she suffered for the last 12 months. Her remains were laid to rest in the Mitchell's Island cemetery on Thursday, the 10th April. The funeral service was conducted by Mr. E. Basham, J.P., who delivered a very able and appropriate address. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband and family.
