    A. Elverda "Vertz" Kohl, 94, of Harriston City, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. She was born Sept. 2, 1906. in Harrison City, a daughter of the late Homer C. and Sadie (DeWalt) Kifer.
    Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an elementary school teacher for the Penn-Trafford School District. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Harrison City, a member of the Harrison City Women's club and a past member of the Harrison City Firemen's Auxiliary, the PSEA and NEA.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip L. Kohl, in 1972; a brother, Howard A. Kifer; a sister, Ethel Murray; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Kohl.
    Friends will be received at the James E. Lindsay Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street, Harrison City, Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Alice M. Lindsay officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township.
