Will Transcript
- In the Name of God amen, I Catherine Ambrose of Frederick County and State of Maryland (Widow) being of perfect health & memory but calling to mind the uncertainty of this life knowing that it is appointed for all persons once to die do make this my last will and Testament in manner & form following to wit
- Item my will and desire is that all my property at my Decease (Except as hereafter Excepted or particularly Devised) shall be equally Divided among my five Sons Viz. Henry Ambrose, Jacob Ambrose, Mathias Ambrose, John Ambrose & Ludwick Ambrose and my four Daughters Viz. Sophia, Catherine, Margaret & Eve Share and Share alike.
- Nevertheless my will and desire is that all my wearing apparel with the Bed and Beding which I make rise of myself consisting of my Bedstead Feather bed, Six Sheets, two Blankets, four Pillers [Pillows] with four Pillor [Pillow] cases be equally Devided among my four Daughters Vizt. Sophia, Catherine, Margaret & Eve Share & Share alike to be Divided by my Executors hereafter named without making Sale thereof.
- Item I do hereby Authorize my Executors hereafter named to Collect all moneys due me on Bond Note or Book Account and Direct them to pay all my Just Debts, funeral charges and in case I Should have a person Employed During Sickness ~ to Satisfy such Person for their Trouble fully ~ which is to be taken out of my Estate before Distribution be made as above Directed
- Lastly I nominate and appoint my Trusty friends John Snook & Daniel Rouser Executors of this my last will & Testament ratifying this and no other.
- In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Affixd. my Seal this thirty first day of May A.D. Eighteen Hundred.

- Signed Sealed & Acknowledged by the Testator as her last will & Testament in the Presence of us who have Subscribed our names as Witnesses

- Frederick County to wit on the 13th day of October 1807 then came Daniel Rouser and made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that the foregoing Instrument of writing is the True whole will and Testament of Catherine Ambrose late of Frederick County Deceased that hath come to his hands and Possession and that he Doth not know of any Other

- Frederick County to wit on the 13th day of October 1807 then came Henry Kemp one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing last will and Testament of Catherine Ambrose late of Frederick County Deceased and made Oath on the holy Evengels of Almighty God that he did see the Testatrix therein named Sign & Seal this will that he heard her Publish Pronounce and Declare the same to be her last will and Testament that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of his Apprehension of a Sound and Disposing mind mind memory and understanding that he Subscribed his name as a Witness to this will in the Presence and at the request of the Testatrix. And that he did Also see Frederick kemp & Ludwick Kemp the Other Subscribing Witnesses Sign their names as Witnesses to said Will in the Presence and at the request of the Testatrix and all in the presence of each Other.

- To the Register of Wills of Frederick County I John Snook of the State of Ohio ~ do hereby refuse to Administer on the Estate of Catherine Ambrose and do therefore renounce all my right Title and Claim to said Administration desiring at the same time the Letters of Administration my be Granted to Daniel Rowser which is one of the Executors left with me in this last will and Testament of the said Catherine Ambrose late of Frederick County Deceased as Witness my hand this Tenth day of October 1807.

pg. 172: Conrad Kemp was 48 years of age when on August 17, 1732 he arrived at Philadelphia with his wife Anna Maria Feuerbach, age 38. They brought a growing family consisting of sons Christian 18, Gilbert 16, Frederick 8, Hans Peter 6, and a daughter Catharina 2.
This was in the same vicinity that Matthias Ambrose was located in the carly to mid 1700's.
