Anna [Hughes] Carroll was born either in 1869 [date listed on gravestone] or in June 1864 [date listed on 1900 U.S. Census] in Ireland. She married Edward Carroll in 1892 [date listed on 1900 U.S. Census].

Anna's surname of Hughes is listed (proven) in the California Death Index record of her eldest son James Edward Carroll, who was born 8 October 1892 in Connecticut and died 4 April 1953 in San Mateo County, California.

According to the 1900 U.S. Census, Anna came to America in 1885. She may be the Ann Hughes, age 17, born in Ireland, that is listed on the New York Passenger Lists that arrived on 1 June 1885 on the ship "Etruria", which departed from Liverpool, England and Queensland, Ireland, but additional research is needed to prove that this is the same person.
