MRS. WOLF'S DEATH DUE TO ACCIDENT
Victim of an unusual accident while trying to push a stalled automobile, Mrs. Anna Marie Wolf, 1111 North Seventh street, died at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9, 1939 at St. John's hospital. She was 57 years old.
Mrs. Wolf and her husband, Harvey, were returning last Sunday from their clubhouse northwest of the city when their automobile became mired. They placed blocks of wood under the wheels in an effort to start the car. Mrs. Wolf was in back of the machine when the spinning wheels sent one of the wood blocks flying in the air, striking her on the shin.
Gas gangrene developed from the injury, and Mrs. Wolf was removed to the hospital Wednesday. She failed to rally and the infection proved fatal.
Coroner W.L. Dragoo investigated the accident and will conduct an inquest.
Mrs. Wolf was born Sept. 11, 1881 near Nokomis, a daughter of the late William and Mrs. Johanna Hinrichs.
She moved to Springfield when a girl and has resided here since.
In Oct., 1904, she married Harvey Wolf who for some years conducted a grocery store on North Sixth street. He survives together with one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Wolf Nail; three sons, Lester B., W. Fred and Harvey, jr.; her mother; two grandchildren; one brother, George Hinrichs, all of Springfield.
Mrs. Wolf was a member of Grace Lutheran church.
Services were at Ellinger & Kunz funeral home.
Burial was in Roselawn.
