Anna Farris was born on 16 September 1804 at Kentucky.3,4 She moved with her parents to middle Tennessee in 1812.4 She married John Armstrong in December 1818 at Tennessee.4 They had four children, three of whose names are known: James, Margaret and Mary.5,2 He and Ann moved to Haywood County, Tennessee in 1828. John died August 1829.4 Anna Farris married James Gilliland, son of John Gilliland and Sarah Berry, in 1831.4,1 Anna had three sons by James who died in 1835.2 Anna Farris appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Haywood County, Tennessee, enumerated 15 November 1850, living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and William L. Coppedge. Her son, John F. Gilliland, was also living with them.3 In 1853 Ann moved to Upshur County, Texas.4 She died on 29 October 1885 at Upshur County, Texas, at age 81.4
