Anna Matilda Carter first married 07 Mar 1822 Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia Patrick K. Carns (unknown -1836) Anna Matilda Carter married a second time 20 Dec 1838 Talbot County, Georgia to her first cousin Thomas Mauduit Nelson. Anna was Thomas's cousin and the older sister of Robert Carter. They had no children. The complexity of the relationships makes you scratch you head. Robert Carter's stepmother in law was his older sister. His father in law was his cousin. She had no children by either marriage. She was the daughter of John Carter (Dec. 18, l76l -Aug. 28, 1820) and his wife Anna Matilda Wray Oct. 21, 1779 - Jan. 18, 1855).
