Ann E. Porter of Owego, N.Y.

Ann E. Porter, 85, of Owego, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Oak Hill Manor, Ithaca, N.Y. She was born in Susquehanna, Pa., on June 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Leon T. and Anna (Hurley) Bryant. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard E. Porter; and her brothers, Leon E. Bryant and Gerald J. Bryant. Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Kathy Porter, Candor; her daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Emerson, Cos Cob, Conn., Judy and John Steele, Charlotte, N.C.; her six grandchildren, Howard and Robin Steele, Christopher Emerson, Lori and Phil Robinson, Lisa Tate, Rick Porter, Amanda Porter; her six great-grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Jack, Matthew, Katie and Emma. She is also survived by her sisters, Eleanor Howard, Owego, Mary Edwards, Owego, Katherine McNeil, Binghamton; her brothers, Thomas M. Bryant, Nevada, Edwin W. Bryant, Nevada; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Owego. She was always very busy with church related work and active in the Christian Women's Club. Ann enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, N.Y. on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. G. Terry Steenburg, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Tioga Cemetery, Owego. Friends are invited to call at Richards Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those wishing are asked to direct memorial contributions in memory of Ann to the First Baptist Church of Owego, 228 Main St., Owego, N.Y. 13827, or the charity of one's choice. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Riverview Manor and Oak Hill Manor and also to her special friends, Catherine Hunt and Margaret Poljanec, for all their loving care and friendship.
