Gender Female
Marriage to Francis Stanton
Burial[1] 30 Aug 1733 Hinxworth, Hertfordshire, England

Ann’s maiden name and origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is in 1697, by which time she was already married to a carpenter called Francis Stanton. Between 1697 and 1714 they had five children baptised at Hinxworth in Hertfordshire. In 1705 Francis purchased for £30 the building later known as the Three Horseshoes public house in Hinxworth. It is not clear whether it was a public house when he bought it, but it stayed in the family for four generations and had certainly been a public house for many years by the time the family sold it in the 1840s.

In 1718 Ann’s eldest daughter Mary married.

Francis died in April 1720. A fortnight after his death Ann’s daughter Ann married a James Watson of Northill in Bedfordshire. The following week Ann and her son-in-law James Watson entered into a bond allowing Ann to administer Francis’s estate.

Ann’s first known grandchild was born in 1721 at Northill.

Ann’s son Francis died as a young man of 26 in 1730 at Abington Pigotts in Cambridgeshire.

Ann died in 1733, being buried at Hinxworth on 30th August.
