He m. 2ndly Ann Montgomery Lewis, d. of Major John Lewis and his wife Mary Preston, d. of Colonel William Preston, of Montgomery county, Virginia, and left issue, as will soon appear: ...

    ... Hon. John Howe Peyton, of Montgomery Hall, Augusta county, Virginia, by Ann M. Lewis, his 2nd wife, left issue:
    1. Susan Madison, b. July 4, 1822, m. her third cousin, 1842, Colonel John B. Baldwin; no issue.
    2. John Lewis Peyton, b. September 15, 1824, m. Henrietta Eliza Clark, d. of Colonel John C. Washington, of Lenoir county, North Carolina, and has issue one son, Lawrence Washington Howe Peyton, b. January 27, 1872 ; a cadet in 1892 V.M.I., and standing first in his class.
    3. Yelverton Howe d. without issue in Texas, 1891. He was a man of talent, and character, and d. a sincere and devout christian.

    8. Margaret Lynn, b. 1835, m. Captain George M. Cochran, C.S.A., a lawyer of Staunton, and they have issue: I. Susan; II. Maria, d. in her 17th year; III. George, d. in his 12th year; IV. Ann Peyton; V. John; VI. Margaret; VII. Peyton.
    9. Virginia Frances, b. 1841, m. Colonel Joseph F. Kent, of Wythe county, who left at his death three children; I. Joseph; II. Susan Peyton; III. Mary Preston Kent.
    10. Cornelia, b. 1843, m. 1st, Dr. Thomas Brown and had two children, John Baldwin and Howe Peyton. She m. 2nd, Williams Hastings Greene, of Augusta county, and has two children, I. Peyton W.; II. George Newport Greene.
