Ann Buck's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 15th August 1741, when she was married at Radford in Nottinghamshire to John Wild, a farmer. They had a daughter baptised at Radford the following year, after which they moved about ten miles west to Ockbrook in Derbyshire, where they had another two daughters baptised in 1744 and 1745.

Some time between 1745 and 1747 the family moved again, this time moving about twenty miles east to Owthorpe in Nottinghamshire. Ann was buried there on 20th October 1747. John survived her by nearly 23 years and remarried the year after her death.
