  2. ↑ Andries (Andreas) is one of two stamvaders of the Bester family in Southern Africa. Arrived in 1712 as a soldier in the Cape from Maagdeburg in Germany. Worked later as n coach driver and 'boerekneg'.

    The other stamvader is Michiel Bester also from Maagdeburg in Germany. Married to Elizabeth Kruger on 13 May 1742 (6 children from the marriage).
