Note that Wyman Vol. 2, p. 701 shows a Joseph Newell [#17*] (unknown origins) m. Hannah ... The church record, p. 18, on 26 Jun 1681 where "Hannah Newell ye wife of mr Jos. Newell" is admitted. If Wyman hadn't mistranscribed the baptism date, he might have recognized that these records go together, making Joseph [#17] probably fictitious.]
