In 1790 Andrew lived at North Yarmouth, in the section now West Cumberland. He, his father and Richard Loring divided a 100 acre lot in the Gore there 16 July that year. Andrew was elected captain in the 6th Infantry Rgt., 2nd Brigrade, on 13 June 1808, and appointed justice of the peace 28 Aug 1817. Capt. Andrew laid out the country road from Falmouth to Portland, and was a prosperous lumber trader, dealing especially in ship's timbers. He built and operated Leighton's Tavern at West Cumberland on the Gray Road, the stage route to Lewiston,Maine.
