Andrew was killed by George Buxton. Account of the murder from Andrew's niece, Edna Marie Gordon Raigner:
"Daddy's baby brother was murdered by a next door and long time friend of Daddy Macs . Mr. Buxton was a holiness preacher and had preached that night. After church he had a big family and all the kids was sitting around his flat bed truck with their legs hanging off. Uncle Andrew was engaged to his daughter and was standing talking to her. Mr. Buxton ask him to step back and he did but Mr. Buxton went to the cab and got a tire tool and said move back, which he did but saw he was going to hit him and threw his arm up. The blow broke his arm and crushed his skull. He lived a week. Mr. Buxton decided Daddy and his brothers was going to hang him and took his shotgun to their garden and shot his brains out. He lived a week. There was never any hard feelings between the families. I grew up with the 5 youngest ones."
