Jean DENNISTOUN was b. abt 1750. Jean married Andrew BUCHANAN (Genealogical and heraldic dictionary of the landed gentry, 1836) of Ardenconnal in 1769 (Minute book of the Board of Green Cloth). Jane married 1769 Andrew Buchanan of Ardinconnal, Dunbartonshire, and Auchingray, JP, DL (1745-1833) (Buchanan Book, 1911, by A. Buchanan). Jane (d. 15sep1832), eldest daughter of James Dennistoun of Colgrain, married 3jul1769 Andrew Buchanan (12jul1745-14jul1833/5, 1835 must be right), son of Archibald Buchanan of Auchintorlie (d. 1760) and Martha Murdoch (b. 21feb1702), daughter of Provost Peter Murdoch of Rosehill (Burkes Landed Gentry). Martha Murdoch (b. 21feb1702) was daughter of Peter Murdoch and Mary Luke (b. abt 1678); Martha Murdoch married 5dec1728 Archibald Buchanan of Auchentorlie (Provosts of Glasgow, 1942, by J.R. Anderson). Peter Murdoch was descended from Archibald Lyon, son of Lord Glamis. Archibald Buchanan of Auchentorlie was brother of Andrew Buchanan of Drumpelier (1690-1759), the father of George Buchanan of Mount Vernon (1728-1762, father in law of James Dunlop of Tollcross (b. 1741)) and of Mary Buchanan (mother of John Stirling (1752-1811)). John Stirling (1752-1811) was father in law of Colin Dunlop Donald (1777-1859) (stirnet).

A firm Dennistoun and Buchanan and Co., merchants, was in 1820 and 1831 at Candleriggs, Glasgow, (PO Directory), and in 1841 at 20 St. Vincent St.
