       Andrew was appointed to the constabulary July 13 1843 and servedin various locations until his appointment as constable(Sargeant) January27, 1846. After that time he served in County Limerick until the timethat he absconded with the men's pay in Nov of 1849 This informationtaken from the official records by the Irish Constabulary Museum.
     This s in conflict with what he reported to the Hibernian Societyof Philadelphia where he stated that he came here in July of 1849.

Andrew was born in the Townland of Lower Tullyholvin. This is in theBarony of Clanawley, Boho Civil Parish, Ennishkillen Poor Law Union, CoFermanagh.

The enigma here is that per an email from Jim Corbit 30 Dec 1997 Andrewsettled in Phila in 1859. However he shows up in the 1850 census asliving in Phila. This is a year after he supposedly entered thiscountry. In 1854 he filed an intention of naturalization. Which wascompleted in the Philadelphia Court in 1857.

    An 1859 Directory of Philadelphia has an A. Britton as a Blind makerat 44 N 2nd St.
