Joseph Cope (Joseph3, John2,Oliver I) and Rachel W. Cope, b. I mo. 7,1827;
cl. 8 mo. 25, 1873. They resided in various places, and he was for a time
Soutll for his health. They finally settled in New Garden, Chester Co., Pa.,
but after his decease Amy removed to West Chester, Pa. and later to her dau.
at Haverford College.
(Joseph Cope, was a son of Joseph Cope and Ann Taylor, and great-grandson
of Oliver Cope, the emigrant.)

In the passing away of Amy k Cope. many will feel that they have lost a. friend
nnd a counnellor. Sbe was always kind, interested and sympathetic. Although for yeam
a patlent, cheerful suRerer, her heart md hands were never Idle; she was always, when
strength ~erX2Iitted. occupied for the wellate oC those around her, who needed her help,
and even little children came to her sick room to be instructed fn various way& It am
truly be said of her, "She bath done what she could". In 1856 she married Paschal1
Cope, of East Bradtord. thb county, and they reaided in West Chester. Philadelphia and
New Garden. She laves one daughter, Lydia C.. wife of President fsaac Sharpless, or
Haverford College, and several grandchildren. with whom she has made her home for
ettveral ~ealPB. Here she had been tenderly and lovingly cared for and her loss will be
keealy felt by 9 large circle of mends.
