AR Watson worked as an "A" Operator" in the three CatCrackers in the Citgo Refinery in Lake Charles. Harry G Alcock helped maintain them. These two men are my father-in-law and father. Publication American Press PaperDate 1/19/95 From the American Press of Jan. 19, 1945 GIANT FLUID catalytic crackers of the Tutwiler Refinery of Cities Service Refining Corp. have set a new world record for continuous operation, it was announced today by W.W. Lowe, vice president and general manager. Operators and maintenance men have watched these 22-story catcrackers like hawks to insure the efficiency of hundreds of instruments, controls and turbines and to detect any small leak or other mechanical trouble that would have stopped the flow of millions of barrels of high octane gasoline going from these units for the exclusive use of the armed forces. There are three of these huge cat crackers making up the heart of the high octane refinery and two of them have gone well beyond the previous record for continuous run while a third is close to the record. The longest ``on stream record is held by the A unit. By this morning it has been in continuous production 283 days. Next was the B cracker, which has a record of 253 days. Each of these surpass the seven and a half month run of the cat cracker which previously held the record ,a unit operated by Standard Oil of Baton Rouge. References
