  Amos Rogers, who formerly lived in Mercer county, and who emigrated to Michigan in 1835, when the State was little better than a howling wilderness, died at his home near Brighton, Livingston county, on Monday of last week, at the advanced age of about four score years. Mr. Rogers has many relatives and friends residing in Mercer county, and to them it will be a source of pleasure to know that the deceased was much beloved by all who knew him in his Western home, and that his demise is deeply regretted by all who knew him. Mr. Rogers was a public-spirited and patriotic man. In politics he was formerly an Old Line Whig, and upon the birth of the Republican party he became one of its first adherents.
