Received on certificate: 30 Sep 1809, from Cane Creek MM., SC. to Whitewater MM. Amos Hawkins, brother of John Hawkins, Sen., settled in the township. He had but one son, Jonathan, and three daughters: Charity, Eliza, and Martha. Jonathan's sons were Newton, and Amos L., who married a daughter of Mordecai Parry.
