    He appears to have been the Amos Gates who served under Capt. Israel Williams from 22 May 1755 to 27 Jun 1756. Service was at the Western Frontier and with detachment in Colrain, Mass. He served under Capt. Silas Brown from 4 Mar to 2 Dec 1760 in the campaign for the reduction of Canada. He was also a soldier in the American Revolution.
