    Children of Martyn Houghton [#631] and Polly Greenleaf: Amory [#1212], b. "1, 8, 1813" [-sic-compare to birth record cited above], m. "10, 10, 1833" to Alvira Woodbury.

  7. There are apparently two Amory Houghton's born in Bolton about the same time. The one on this page is NOT the one who died in Brooklin, New York in 1882 (here), despite webpages that horribly confuse the two men (.e.g, here). The 1880 census (line 45) shows the Amory of Brooklyn had a different and conflicting set of children, and appears to be the Amory of Cambridge, MA, who had a wife Sophronia (see Find A Grave which suggests his parents were Rufus and Abigail).

The son of Martin, born in Bolton in 1813, married a wife Elvira Woodbury and their first child was a son named Martin. By 1860, they were living separate, presumably divorced, as Amory remarried in 1863 to Susan Chandler. The last record found of him is the 1870 census (cited above). An "Emery Houghton" died in Athol in 1884, age 72, but the death record does not specify any birthplace or parents, and it has not been determined whether or not he is the same person (record 69).
