    Ambrose was born in Downpatrick, Co. Down and married first Emily Rowan on 25 May 1820 in Jefferson Co. VA. His second marriage was to Elizabeth Armstrong on 22 Dec 1842.
    His parents were Ambrose Cramer (born 1754 in Co. Down, Ireland and lived beyond the age of 89) and Elizabeth Johnston who died sometime before 1800.
