Alma Ruth Jones Still, 92, of Steele passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at her home in Steele. She was born Aug. 26, 1926, in El Dorado, Ark., to Claude and Esther Jones. She was united in marriage to Paul Glendon "Duke" Still in 1946. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Steele. She was a graduate of Steele High School and attended college at LSU.
Mrs. Still was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Esther Jones; husband, Paul Glendon "Duke" Still; three sisters, Marlene Vaughn, Zela Cecil and Glenndine Jones, and one brother, Wilburn Jones.
Survivors of Mrs. Still include four children, Paula Stil Mahon and Mickey of Steele, Glenn Allen Still and Joy of Dyersburg, Tenn., Kevin Still and Kara of Steele and Claudia Still and Dana of Ethelsville, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Paul Lynn Nowlin, Therr Evin Nowlin (Karen), Tad Kristian Nowlin (Sandy), April Lee Clanton (Drew), Glenna Dee Morrison (Brad), Lindsay Nunnley (Joel), Sara Strobbe (Brett), Lani Still Eddy (Nick) and Madison Friend; 17 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Still were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele with Rev. Todd Holman officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pallbearers were Paul Lynn Nowlin, Therr Nowlin, Tad Nowlin, Gerik Nowlin, Alex Nowlin, Gavin Duke Nowlin, Evin Nowlin, Brendon Nowlin, Issac Eddy, Rylan Nowlin, Glenn Michael Clanton, Smith Strobbe and Carlisle Strobbe.
Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
