The Howard Story

Near John B. Howard lived the Allison & Mary (Cade) McClintock family with 13

children.

Douglas Co, KS Family Histoies 1991-1992 Vol I By Leonard A. Walker, Rt 2, Lawrence, KS 66040 913-843-5152

My mother's parents, Allison Hanson McClintock (born Aug 31, 1857) and Mary

Cade ( born Jan 1, 1861) were united in marriage on May 5, 1880. They had 11 children, of which Kate Evelyn was my mother.

The name Fairview was given in the early days to the Sunday School that was

held at the McClintock home, my mother's home, located in the Wakarusa Twp (Section 32, Twp 13, Range 20) because of its sightly location. The name was later given to the school.

My ancestors who attended the Fairview School were my Father, William W.

Walker; my mother, Kate E. McClintock; and my Aunt Nettie Walker.

My parents were married March 29, 1905, and later moved to the Walker

Homestead. On Feb 12, 1915, I Leonard A. Walker, was born in the smae house that my father was born in on Oct 14, 1883.

I married Viola K. Hird in August, 1938 and have one son, Larry L. Walker

(born Dec 4, 1939). Because of a serious illness, Viola died on March 1, 1956. On Dec 28, 1967, I married Violet G. Moon. We continue to reside on the orginial homestead.

My son maried Cinda Walenta on Oct 27, 1963. They have a family of three

children. Beth Ann, who died in infancy; Bethany; and Sheera.
