Allen came from Georgia, tradition has it, but his father J ames lived in Jackson County, Alabama so perhaps the stat e border changed. He and his brother Hiram bought propert y together in Caldwell County, Kentucky.  He fathered an il ligitimate son, Allen Pearce Morse with Mary's cousin, Nanc y Morse and the boy was born just prior to Allen and Mary' s wedding. According to court documents he was to pay chil d support to her for the 'bastard son".  Nancy never marrie d and raised her son alone. Later Allen had a mill on Donal dson Creek and a large farm.  His estate passed to his so n James Madison upon his death. James was killed at the bat tle of Shiloh during the Civil War and the property was van dalized.
