Information from Alex Thompson: Allen Mebane, son of James & Margaret (Allen) Mebane, was named in his father's 1807 will, and received 200 acres in Williamson Co. TN, "waters of Harpeth River". He married a daughter of his first cousin, William C Anderson (son of James Anderson and Elizabeth Mebane), and they appeared in the 1830 Census of Williamson Co. TN with one son: 1830 Census Williamson Co. TN p. 221 Allen Mebane 100001 - 00001; 5 slaves He 30-40 (b. 1790-1800), son under 5 [William]; wife 20-30 (b. 1800-1810) Allen's Anderson wife died and he married Hannah Norwood in 1839, but died soon afterward. (Ref. Marriages of Williamson Co. TN 1804-1850. Mebane, Allen to Hannah Norwood, Sept. 18, 1839. Bondsman: Wm. W. Peace.) Neither Allen nor his widow has been found in the 1840 Census. The names of Allen Mebane's children are known from their Anderson grandfather's will, which I have summarized as: William C ANDERSON will Williamson Co. TN 12 May 1848 (pr. Sep 1848 WB 9-163) no wife; Legatees: Grandson Andrew P BLYTHE (horse), Four grandchildren Wm. A, Jas. A, Alexander and Thos. S. MEBANE (under care of son Thomas P) Son-in-law Thomas BANES and dau.
