Alice Swallow was baptised on 23rd December 1759 at Kimpton in Hertfordshire, daughter of Mary Swallow, late Lincoln, formerly Cain, and her husband John Swallow. When Alice was four years old her mother Mary died.

When Alice was 25 years old she married Valentine Gutteridge from nearby Harpenden. They then moved to nearby Flamstead, where they had a daughter, Mary, baptised in 1776. They have yet to be traced after Mary's baptism.
